You don’t have to look very far on the internet to find Google’s fingerprints. Google started out as a search engine, and that was about all it did, but then as it gained more traction it started to branch out into other things. To be fair, many of the things they tried didn’t do all that well and have long since been forgotten. It remains to be seen if Google+ (Google social networking) will last, or if it will soon disappear like previously failed endeavors made by Big G.
There is no question that Google+ has a lot of weight behind it and they definitely want it to grab some of Facebook’s business. Now, they may not flat-out say that, but it’s quite obvious that they have noticed how much of an impact Facebook has had, and Google can’t be blamed for wanting a piece of the virtual action.
By now everybody knows that social networking is taking the world by storm, at least the online world. The big-name networking sites like Myspace and Facebook offer settings for people to connect with each other. Many businesses are also tapping into the power of this phenomenon because they can see how popular they are, and they also understand the power of social proof provided by such sites. The ability to leverage social network sites is an excellent method for businesses to reach new markets and increase their customer base.
Perhaps you are among the people who didn’t think there was enough room for another major player in social networking, but Google’s entrance into the arena is evidence that there is still room for growth and competition. While may have had a few mis-steps in its short history, they have a reason for everything that they do. Google+ appears to be a serious contender in the field of social networking, and it is already starting to get a fair share of users who like what it has to offer.
One of the main things that make Google+ unique is the use of social circles. You put people into different circles, and then you get to decide what each circle gets to see. For example, you can put your co-workers in one circle, your family in another, and your spouse in yet another. The only downside as of right now is that each person can only belong to one circle, but at least you have the ability to control who sees what.
Google+ also has a chat function which makes communicating with friends easy and enjoyable. Facebook also has chat, but theirs is limited to only one person at a time. Google+, on the other hand, is set up so up to 10 people can all chat at the same time. It also has seamless video chat, which adds to the overall experience and puts the ‘social’ in ‘Google social networking’.
Everything you would expect in a good social networking site is still here, such as games, sharing, status updates and more. While it may be a bit of a stretch to say Google social networking will replace Facebook, it would be fair to say that Google+ does things right and is worth checking out.
The Overture search term tool was bought out by Yahoo! in 2003 and is now referred to as Yahoo Marketing Solutions. Overture was one of the first pay-for-placement companies out there. Basically this is what pay-per-click evolved from.
The reason the Overture search term tool is no longer with us is the fact that when the Internet changed the way they did things, Overture did not keep up with those changes and if not for Yahoo!, Overture would have gone by way of the dinosaur.
Yahoo has revamped the entire Overture system and made it so much better. Now, not only can you find keywords to use for your SEO but you can also place ads and manage when and where those ads get seen.
As with all pay-per-click ads you only pay when your ad gets clicked on and not for every time it is shown. Pay-per-click is still a very effective way to drive traffic to your website. The more people you attract to your website the more possible it is to convert them into paying customers.
The secret to attracting potential paying customers to your site is to use specifically targeted keywords. You do this by first, figuring out who you audience will be and that is determined basically, by the product you are selling or the service you are offering.
Build the ad you post on to the search engine around your specifically targeted keyword. Use it in the title and make the title intriguing so they want to click through to your website to check out what you are offering them.
To get started doing all of this you must sign up at “searchmarketing.yahoo.com”. Make sure you have your PPC budget all worked out and available to start using. Yahoo will give you a $25 credit just for signing up.
You will be directed to choose the US and Canada or other areas of the world. If you choose other countries make sure you take into consideration the language barrier. Now you will be directed to search for keywords.
The best way to search for keywords is to think about what words your customers would use when they search for your product or service. Then click the box that will direct you to a list of related keywords then price them out.
The pricing area is where you will tell Yahoo what your spending limit is. Once you give Yahoo your budget the tool will estimate a maximum bid amount so you get the maximum number of clicks for the keywords you are using. The tool will also estimate the number of impressions and clicks you can expect at that bid amount.
If you are looking for a network security white paper, you have to look no further than the internet itself. A white paper is simply a case study about a certain product or service.
White papers are generally created in order to illustrate how well a certain product or service works in real world environment. A network security white paper is put together by a company as a form of advertising. They want to showcase how well their product really works.
If you go to a search engine and do a search for this search term, you should have no trouble finding many white papers from many companies.
You will probably even find one, or more, sites that have a library of white papers on this topic. From there, it’s really just a matter of finding the one that you find the most reasonable or compelling.
Other than that, here are some real world things you can start doing right now to ensure your network is as secure as possible:
1. First of all, make sure that you install anti-virus and anti-spyware and mal ware software on all computers in the network. Make sure you only get the licensed copies since anything else may be filled with viruses and spyware.
Keep all the software up to date, I know sometimes that can be a headache, and add any patches as needed.
2. Have every user of the network create their own password and user name for the network. Password protected networks are much more secure than those not protected by a password.
Having everyone create their own makes the whole network more secure. If one person gets hacked and their password is stolen you only have to update one, instead of all of them.
3. Make sure the firewall that came with your computer is set up and working.
4. Since it is possible for someone outside of your home to steal your signal, and perhaps some sensitive information, make sure that your network is a secured network.
Also, try to keep your wireless routers towards the inside of your home. This can help eliminate any of the signal escaping your home to be picked up by others.
This is not a “one and done” kind of situation. It is a good idea to have multiple layers of protection. In other words, use several of these suggestions. The more safety measures you have in place, the less of the chance of your system being compromised.
You don’t need a big elaborate white paper to learn the various techniques for securing your network… though a white paper sure can’t hurt.
Ultimately keeping your home (or office, for that matter) network safe is mostly about common sense. Use the safety software and protocols discussed here and you will have a big head start.
Finding a good network security white paper to help you decide between various products might be able to help. At the end of the day, however, it’s about security and not just spending your time doing a lot of research.
Technology being as it is, business people all over the world find internet marketing to be very beneficial to their bottom line. If it is done correctly and all the rules and regulations are followed marketing on the internet can help you become quite the success story.
Becoming that success starts with a website that is user friendly that uses keywords and has quality content that the search engines like. If the search engines like you then you will be placed high in their rankings. If you rank high enough, anyone who searches for your product will see you on the first page of the results that come up. This seems to garner some respect and will get you more customers. Some find internet marketing to be the best thing that ever happened to their business.
How do you start? Keyword research, that’s how. This is where you start to position yourself to rank high on the search engines. The key is to strategically use your keywords throughout your site, just be careful not to use them too vigorously or you will get accused of keyword stuffing or keyword spamming and the search engines will bust you down in the ranks or kick you off all together.
Keywords should be connected to whatever it is you are offering. Try to think about someone who is searching for your product and use keywords that you think they would use. If you can’t seem to find one that works, here’s a hint, go to the search engine and start typing in the name of your product. The search engine will automatically self-populate with things that are close to the words you are using. Just keep a list handy.
When your list is made check out each keyword in a keyword tool. this process can help you get deeper into the niche you are working in. Some keyword tools will help you out by giving suggestions of keywords you can use based on one of your main keywords. These keyword tools will also show you how popular their own suggestions are.
Other keyword search tools will let you enter the name of your’s or someone else’s website and then scan the site for suggestions based on the words used on those sites. This can give you quite the insight into what your competitors are up to and may even give you a leg up.
Once you figure out what your competitors are doing you might want to think about staying one step ahead of them by embedding a video into your site outlining exactly what it is you have to offer your customers. Trust gets built up more quickly when they can see your face and hear your voice. If you sound knowledgeable then people will respect you and think your product is superior.
I think I mentioned, you need to provide quality content on your site. Keeping the content you post up-to-date and original and relevant to your product or service is paramount. The search engines will love you if you do this consistently. try to give out information that no one else can or does. This will single you out and you will also find internet marketing has made your site very popular.
The discussion forum has played a major role in the internet community from the very beginning. These are just a slight variation on the virtual bulletin boards that people used to flock to. Forums are places where people gather online to talk about their common interests. If you happen to have something to sell that would appeal to a particular interest, then wanting to market to them makes a lot of sense. With that in mind, here are some tips for using forum marketing.
No matter what you have to offer, you should be able to find a forum on just about any topic. You can easily find them by going to your favorite search engine and searching for the name of the topic, followed by the word ‘forum’ or ‘forums’. If you were selling sleeping bags, then you could try “sleeping bag forum” or “camping forums”. Any group of people that would have a direct interest in your offer should be considered; however you don’t want to be to broad otherwise you may end up wasting your time.
The next step is to sign up at the forums you wish to become a member of. Before you submit your registration info, be sure to read all of the rules carefully. Different forums have different rules, and it’s your responsibility to know and follow them. Once you are registered, there may be another set of rules for you to read; again, make sure you do.
Fill in your profile as completely as possible, but don’t make everything about your offer. You want people to think of you as a fellow member of the forum, and not as someone who is there for the sole purpose of selling. You don’t have to completely hide it, nor should you. The key is to strike the right balance of letting people know you have something they may want and letting them know that you’re one of them.
One of the most important tips for using forum marketing is to be a contributing member of the community. But be sure to spend a few days just reading posts and paying attention to how people interact with each other. Then you can introduce yourself to the forum. However, do not make your introductory message about what you sell. You need to be very careful about mentioning it at all, because most forums have been swamped with spammers in the past (not that you’re spamming), so they are on high alert for anything that even remotely resembles a sales pitch.
Become a regular member of the forum and try to make every post you make add value to the forum in some way. Doing this will take an investment of time, but if you do it right it will pay off in a big way. These tips for using forum marketing really work, but there is a catch: you can’t just read them and expect them to work; instead you need to take action so you can start seeing all of the positive results of this proven marketing method.
